At a Sunday press conference, the FBI Director referred to Memphis as the “Homicide Capital of [the] USA.”
“I didn’t know this until my confirmation process, but Memphis, Tennessee, is the homicide capital of America per capita – didn’t know that, we have a problem there,” Kash Patel said to Fox News. “We’re now addressing it. We’re rolling out one of our task forces to Tennessee.”
Senator Brent Taylor did react on social media to Patel’s allegations and told that he’s glad to see Patel and the FBI give Memphis’ crime wave some consideration.
“With unwavering resolve, I’m fighting to #MakeMemphisMatter, showcasing our city’s potential to my Senate colleagues. Despite sometimes being the only voice willing to fight to save our community, FBI Director Kash Patel’s focus on Memphis crime fuels our hope. With the Trump Administration’s support, we’re poised to tackle crime head-on, proving Memphis is a vibrant community worthy of investment and a brighter future.”
At this point, there is not a word on when task forces are going to be arriving in Memphis. Media is trying to contact Senator Taylor and has not yet heard back.
