agreement

On June 13, Kosovo and the United States will sign a framework document that ensures more cooperation between the two nations in defense.

The agreement will be especially significant for securing Kosovo’s territory and for further deepening bilateral relations, said Acting Minister of Defense Ejup Maqedonci.

The signing of this agreement between the U.S. Department of Defense and the Kosovo Ministry of Defense was announced yesterday by the Acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti.

Maqedonci stated that through this document from 2025 to 2030—the intention is to set up long-term cooperation with the United States.

“With this agreement, areas of cooperation will be further developed with the aim of fulfilling goals of the Comprehensive Transition Plan, enhancing interoperability between our troops, developing cooperation in the defense industry, and contributing together to regional and world peace and security,” he added.

He underlined that such partnerships and defense cooperation memorandums do not serve to threaten any nation, but to create defense capabilities and relations that integrate Kosovo into NATO.

Maqedonci said that the agreement is a result of an earlier process which was presented in preliminary form before the Government and then modified.

The Agreement had been agreed to by the Government in March, whereby Kosovo and the United States pledge to develop cooperation on defense planning, strategic resilience, and the strategic development of military capabilities.
