The Pentagon is said to be excluding gender transition treatments for so-called “transgender soldiers,” the news coming after former President Joe Biden (D) made such procedures possible.
Reuters reports that a memo from Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs Stephen Ferrara stated, “I am directing you to take the necessary steps to immediately implement this guidance,” the outlet reported Monday.
Defense Department officials seem to be suspending new hormone therapies and surgeries for those individuals.
The outlet also reported that “Trump signed an executive order in January, after returning to the presidency, that reversed a policy implemented under his predecessor Joe Biden that had allowed transgender troops to serve openly.”
In February, the U.S. Army announced it would no longer accept transgender individuals into the military and would not conduct gender transition surgeries, according to Breitbart News.
Trump issued an executive order in January that contained some of the points Trump made on the campaign trail regarding how leftists had been disregarding the reality of biological fact in the last few years when it came to men and women, the outlet said:
“Erasing sex from language and policy is corrosive in its effect on women, and on the credibility of the American system as a whole. Based on truth as a foundation of Federal policy, it is essential to scientific endeavor, public security, morale, and confidence in government itself,” Trump’s executive order states, criticizing the left for substituting the “permanent biological fact of sex with an internal, fluid, and subjective experience of self untethered from biological realities.
“Consequently, my Administration will uphold women’s rights and safeguard freedom of conscience by employing plain and honest language and policies that acknowledge women are biologically female, and men are biologically male,” the order states, making it very apparent that it is now policy of the U.S. to “acknowledge two sexes, male and female.”
The US Supreme Court has just enabled Trump to bar overtly transgender individuals from the armed forces, per Breitbart News. The site recorded that it last April had mentioned “the Trump administration had petitioned the Supreme Court to issue a stay to the lower court’s decision in favor of repealing the transgender-identifying ban on military personnel.
